The weather

More pulse in suspension in the coming days, and the first changes this weekend.

The calm will continue, but from Saturday onwards, and especially next week, the situation will begin to change.

BarcelonaAfter Tuesday's heatwave, which broke some local records, temperatures have dropped today. The influx of moisture from the sea has moderated the temperatures, bringing cooler weather to many areas, especially along the coast and pre-coastal zones, where fog and low clouds have been prevalent, particularly in the morning. In these areas, maximum temperatures have been significantly lower than yesterday's, ranging between 13 and 16°C, while in the Ponent region and along the Ebro River they have climbed to 22 or 23°C. These variations are part of a generally calm weather pattern that will continue on Thursday, with sunshine, mild midday temperatures, and renewed fog and a temperature inversion in the morning. Over the next few days, dust from North Africa will increase, and by the weekend, more clouds and the first showers are expected in the Pyrenees. Weather maps indicate that instability will increase significantly next week due to the approach of a low-pressure system.

Thursday: total calm

The weather will remain very calm this Thursday. Radiant sunshine will prevail, but some morning fog or low clouds will reappear, both in inland plains and valleys, as well as along the coast and pre-coastal areas. These should not be as widespread as they were on Wednesday along the coast and will dissipate as the day progresses.

A day to take advantage of, with a marked morning temperature inversion. For example, this Wednesday morning it was 14°C in Montserrat, while very close by, in Vacarisses (Vallès Occidental), it was 1°C. A difference of 13 degrees in just 500 meters of altitude. Temperatures will remain similar or rise slightly, with a very mild midday and many highs between 16 and 22°C. Air quality will deteriorate due to atmospheric stagnation and the arrival of light suspended dust.

Changes on the horizon

Friday will be another pleasant day, perfect for enjoying the weather, but the weekend will begin with some initial changes. A front will brush past the Pyrenees, bringing some light showers to the mountain range, especially in the Lleida Pyrenees. Elsewhere, a few isolated showers are possible, with more variable skies. Where it rains, the water will be accompanied by mud, as the amount of suspended dust from North Africa will increase.

All of this will be a prelude to the more significant changes that may arrive next week. Current weather maps indicate that a low-pressure system will be located between the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa, bringing moisture-laden maritime winds and precipitation. This situation is still uncertain and will need further clarification, but it would bring an end to the anticyclone.
