More heat than is proper for quite a few more days
The heat and mugginess will remain intense, although without the extremes of previous days
The atmosphere continued to be very warm and muggy this Thursday, after an sleepless and very warm night. Despite this very heavy atmosphere, the extremes of Wednesday were not reached today, as temperatures have dropped and 40 ºC were not recorded anywhere. Intervals of clouds and drizzles accompanied by mud contributed to increasing the muggy sensation, and in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees there were showers and thunderstorms with more substance.
In the coming days, this very warm and sweltering atmosphere will continue with sleepless nights, with thermometers that can only drop a little more. What is clear is that we will officially leave the third heatwave behind. We can still expect quite a few days with above-average temperatures and no substantial rain in sight. We will have to wait until the end of next week or the beginning of the following one for more significant changes to arrive.
Friday: heat and mugginess without extremes
The night from Thursday to Friday will again be warm and restless in many regions, although nighttime temperatures will drop. Tropical lows will repeat in various areas, with torrid lows in parts of the coast, the south, and Ponent. The mugginess will remain heavy, especially along the coast and pre-coast due to high humidity. In fact, Meteocat maintains alerts for nighttime heat in some regions, especially in the Ponent area.
Maximum temperatures will be similar or will recede a little more, although they will rise in the southern interior. Many values between 32 and 37 ºC are expected, but 39 or 40 ºC could be reached in Ponent and the Ebro valley. On the coast, maximums will again be more restrained, but with a very pronounced heat that will also be noticeable in more regions. The sun will dominate, with fewer clouds, suspended dust, and only some minor afternoon clouds in the Pyrenees.
Weekend without major changes
The weather will remain pleasant and warm this weekend. Therefore, no major changes are expected, with tropical nights in many places and hot and muggy conditions during the day. Fully summery weather, with values still higher than usual for this time of year. Even between Sunday and Monday, the mercury and intense heat may rise a little, but in the medium term, no extreme peaks like those we have had recently are foreseen.
All this with sun and calm, and only some local afternoon showers in the Pyrenees. Therefore, we will continue for a few more days under the effects of high pressure and, more indirectly, of the North African warm air bubble. The maps are beginning to suggest changes at the end of July that would bring a more noticeable cooling and a bit more instability, a still distant possibility that we will have to specify. Until then, patience.
