BarcelonaThe atmosphere continued to be very warm and muggy this Thursday, after an sleepless and very warm night. Despite this very heavy atmosphere, today the extremes of Wednesday were no longer reached, as temperatures have dropped and 40 ºC were not recorded anywhere. Intervals of clouds and drizzles accompanied by mud contributed to increasing the feeling of mugginess, and in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees there were showers and thunderstorms with more substance.

In the coming days, this very warm and scorching atmosphere will continue with sleepless nights, with thermometers that can only drop a little more. What is clear is that we will officially leave the third heatwave behind. We can still expect quite a few days with above-average temperatures and no significant rain in sight. We will have to wait until the end of next week or the beginning of the following one for more significant changes to arrive.

Forecast map for this Friday morning.

Friday: heat and stuffiness without extremes

Thursday night into Friday will once again be warm and uncomfortable in many regions, although nighttime thermometers will drop. Tropical minimums will be repeated in several areas, with torrid minimums in parts of the coast, the south, and Ponent. The mugginess will remain heavy, especially along the coast and pre-coast due to high humidity. In fact, Meteocat maintains alerts for nighttime heat in some regions, especially in the Ponent area.

Maximum temperatures will be similar or will recede a little more, although in the southern interior they will rise. Many values between 32 and 37 ºC are expected, but 39 or 40 ºC could be reached in Ponent and the Ebro valley. On the coast, maximums will again be more restrained, but with a mugginess that will remain very pronounced and will also be noticeable in more regions. The sun will dominate, with fewer clouds, dust in suspension and only some minor afternoon clouds in the Pyrenees.

Weekend without major changes

The weather will remain pleasant and warm this weekend. Therefore, no major changes are expected, with tropical nights in many places and a hot and humid atmosphere during the day. Fully summery weather, with values still higher than usual for this time of year. Even between Sunday and Monday, the mercury and intense heat may rise slightly, but in the medium term, no extreme peaks like those we have recently experienced are foreseen.

All in all, with sun and calm, and only some local afternoon showers in the Pyrenees. Therefore, we will continue for a few more days under the effects of high pressure and, more indirectly, of the North African warm air bubble. The maps are beginning to suggest changes at the end of July that would bring a more noticeable cooling and a bit more instability, a possibility still distant that we will have to specify. Until then, patience.
