The weather

Autumn arrives with a noticeable cooling throughout the country.

Last showers in the northeast and cold weather in the Pyrenees

BarcelonaThe most active part of the disturbance has generated very powerful storm clouds. The storms have accumulated up to 126 l/m2 in Montserrat (Sant Dimes) and 115 l/m2 in Rellinars (data as of 7 p.m.). Today's downpours briefly reminded us of the severe flooding at the monastery on June 10, 2000. That night, 100 l/m (2.5 gallons/m) of water fell.2 in just 45 minutes, and the effects were much worse because the storm was very static and hit the mountain range even more violently than today. The south also received a heavy toll, with intense hail that caused significant damage in Riumar (Deltebre) and Sant Jaume d'Enveja.

This severe instability will last a few more hours, but will subside into the early hours, as the most active centers will move northeast and out to sea.

(At the end of the report you will find accumulated rainfall data)

The heat and muggy weather of recent days has given way to a radical change in the weather. The approach of a front and a cold air jam have reactivated the instability, with showers and storms affecting every part of the country. This has led Meteocat to maintain all regions under a warning for heavy rain (yellow in general, but with some regions in the extreme south, Central Catalonia, the central coast, and the northeast under orange). Civil Protection maintains the Inuncat plan on alert and recommends extreme caution, especially regarding mobility, avoiding travel unless essential and avoiding crossing flooded passages or streams.

Monday: Soda is everywhere

By Monday, the front will have passed, but the cold air behind it will still generate cloudiness. A few showers are expected in the early morning in the northeast, in the Pyrenees, and on the central coast. They will be generally light, although heavy showers may occur in the early morning along the central coast. A few light to moderate showers are expected from midday onwards in the inland regions of Girona and the Pyrenees. At midday or during the afternoon, showers may recur on the central or southern coast of the Costa Brava. The snow level will hover around 2,200 m and the atmosphere will be full of autumn in the Pyrenees, with cold temperatures at high altitudes.

Autumn will begin at 8:19 p.m. with a generally cool climate.

The week will start with a much cooler atmosphere, as temperatures will drop everywhere. There will be lows close to 5°C in the Pyrenean valleys and between 10°C and 14°C in much of the interior of the country. We will therefore be talking about a fully autumnal atmosphere on the day we enter astronomical autumn.

Fresh strength throughout the week

We're looking forward to some much cooler days, more typical of October than mid- to late-September. Starting Tuesday, the highest highs will barely exceed 22 or 23°C, and around 16°C in the Pyrenees. It will be cold at night in many inland regions and mountain areas, where temperatures will drop below 0°C at high altitudes for the first time in many months. In the Pyrenean valleys, lows will be around 4°C, hovering around 10°C inland and in the West, and around 16°C on the coast.
