At the gates of an atypical heat peak for the time of year
Temperatures will peak, with a dust intrusion in the coming days
BarcelonaThe absolute calm of the Easter holidays has continued this Tuesday, with general sunshine and warm weather at midday. Temperatures are high for the season and are expected to peak in the coming days, when the first 30 ºC of the year could be reached inland. These values are clearly above the usual for this time of year and more typical of late spring or early summer. This is all due to a low-pressure system located between the southwestern Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands, which will drive warm winds from North Africa towards us, as well as an influx of Saharan dust in suspension.
Wednesday: hotter
Temperatures will rise more this Wednesday, both minimum and maximum. Very moderate cold or cool in the early hours, and warm atmosphere at midday, with many highs from 24 ºC to 28 ºC, although locally 30 ºC will be reached in the south and in Poniente. Thermometers will be more restrained on the coast due to the regulatory effect of a still quite cold sea. The contrast between the cool sea water and the environmental pleasantness will favor the appearance of some fog or low clouds in coastal stretches.
Beyond these nuances on the coast, the sun will dominate in the whole country, with only some bands of high and thin clouds. Suspended dust will increase, which will favor the increase of haze.
Heat spike in the coming days
Between Thursday and Saturday, the heat peak will arrive, with temperatures that will soar even higher. Most values will range between 25 ºC and 30 ºC in the pre-coastal and inland areas, which will likely see the first 30 ºC of this year in our region. If this happens, this value will be reached almost a month earlier than last year.
A very warm atmosphere for the dates, which will place thermometers up to ten degrees above the usual average for this time of year in some areas, especially in the Pyrenees. The incursion of African dust in suspension will reach its peak at the end of the week. It will be then when the weather will begin to change.
With the current maps, between Sunday and Monday, a cold air mass would arrive that would cause precipitation everywhere and a clear cooling. We will have to keep confirming this, as there are still days until it arrives.
