Xavi Pascual invents a local Pete Mickeal: the Instant Replay of the ARA
The coach gets the best out of Joel Parra
BarcelonaXavi Pascual's Barça is no pushover. The Blaugrana team neutralized a determined MoraBanc Andorra thanks to a devastating second half (102-71). The coach from Gavà, who has to work hard to get the most out of his current roster, got the best out of Joel Parra, who tallied 24 points and 9 rebounds for a performance rating of 34. "I don't think I'm better or worse when the shots are going in; I just try to help the team with my energy," said the Catalan forward.
Ricky's magic remains intact
Joventut won the Catalan derby against a Baxi Manresa team without Dani Pérez (83-79). The Manresa side dominated the first part of the game, but couldn't manage a 9-point lead at the Palau Olímpic. Ricky Rubio finished with 20 points and 5 assists. "We knew what to expect today and we were able to react against a team with character," said Dani Miret. "I'm very proud of the team, but the situation was very difficult," said Diego Ocampo.
Two rooms to keep
Fontajau has become a fortress. Baloncesto Girona defeated Río Breogán and secured their fourth victory of the season (103-80). The Catalan team, which scored 60 points in the first two quarters, maintained a blistering pace. Pep Busquets contributed 17 points and 6 rebounds for a performance rating of 23. "I think the key to the game was our defensive effort in the first few quarters, and our shooting accuracy helped us along," summarized Moncho Fernández.
A proud comeback in Barris Nord
Hiopos Lleida managed to overcome a 15-point deficit against Unicaja, but fell just short of victory (88-89). Missed free throws in the decisive stretch proved costly for the home team, who fought until the very end. "The fans are proud of the team's performance in the second half. It's a bittersweet feeling. We showed character to get back into the game, but we weren't able to complete the comeback," said Gerard Troba.
