The Márquez brothers reign in Germany

Marc Márquez has won the sprint race and continues to cut points in the general classification

BarcelonaThey started first and second and finished first and second. The Márquez brothers dominate Saturday in Germany with a double victory in the sprint race. Marc finished first and cuts points with Jorge Martín, leader of the general classification of the World Championship; Àlex finished second and returns to a podium for the first time since the fall at the Catalan Grand Prix, and Fabio Di Giannantonio finished third.

A fast race in which there was no change among the top three classified throughout the fifteen laps of the Sachsenring circuit, the fastest of the season. Marc Márquez, who feels at home in Germany, has achieved a new triumph in a very favorable race for the rider from Cervera. It is his garden, a circuit where he is very dominant and this Saturday he has shown it again. “Àlex was faster in this morning's practice, but I started first and imposed my rhythm. If we want to win tomorrow, we will have to improve, otherwise we will be third. I was very uncomfortable throughout the race,” confessed Marc Márquez.

Few options his brother Àlex has had, who has had to settle for chasing him throughout the race, and Di Giannantonio has had even fewer options, who has been almost a second behind the two Catalan riders. The Italian did fight for second position against an Àlex who defended it perfectly to complete the double for the Cervera riders. "I gave the maximum I could in every corner. Physical conditions still don't allow me to give my 100%," acknowledged Àlex Márquez.

A Grand Prix in which Marco Bezzecchi, currently second in the general standings, cannot participate. The Italian rider could not compete in the sprint race – nor will he be able to do so in the long race on Sunday – after breaking his left collarbone. A absence that his pursuers have wanted to take advantage of to cut points – or increase them in the case of Jorge Martín, the current leader with an eleven-point margin over Bezzecchi–. Marc Márquez cuts eight points in the standings and is now 32 points behind the Madrid rider.

Also leaders in the standings

The brothers Marc and Àlex Márquez will also start in first and second position in this Sunday's long race at 2 p.m. Marc Márquez has set the fastest lap in Sachsenring's history with one minute, nineteen seconds, and forty-one thousandths. Until now, the record was held by Fabio Di Giannantonio with one minute, nineteen seconds, and seventy-one thousandths, which he achieved last year.
