BarcelonaSoon it will be May and, as every year, one of the most important sporting events in Barcelona is coming up: the El Corte Inglés Race. The 46th edition will be run on May 10th. This event, which has free registration, is recognized for supporting various Catalan solidarity organizations; this year, the linked entity will be the Cruyff Foundation. The circuit starts on Avinguda Diagonal (9 am) and finishes at Plaça Catalunya. The race runs along a 10-kilometer urban circuit that has been approved by the Catalan Athletics Federation, crossing important points of the city such as Passeig de Gràcia, Carrer Aragó, and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes.

This year's novelty lies in the incorporation of a section of Passeig de Sant Joan from Plaça Tetuan to the Arc de Triomf, with the aim of facilitating the flow of runners through the final section. Bib collection will take place from May 4th to 9th at three El Corte Inglés stores: Plaça Catalunya, Diagonal, and Can Dragó. The organization has decided to increase the number of available bibs by 10,000 more units, increasing from the previous maximum of 40,000 to 50,000 participants, to cope with the great speed at which they have been selling out.

Susila Cruyff, daughter of the former blue-and-white player and coach and president of the Cruyff Foundation, has taken over from the collaborating organization of the previous edition of the race, the Xana Foundation. The director of this entity, Elena Cullell, emotionally recalled the previous edition of the race and the impulse it meant for the Xana Foundation: "The magic and energy we experienced that day gave us enormous strength. The visibility achieved thanks to the race allowed us to make the project known and open new opportunities for collaboration and solidarity initiatives." Now it will be the turn of the Cruyff Foundation, which will receive all the profits from what is achieved with the sale of the race's solidarity t-shirts.

Mireia Capdevila has been in charge of providing color and image this year. She has created a drawing in which she wanted to represent what El Corte Inglés, running, and the city of Barcelona mean to her. "The poster functions as a collage, all the elements move to the rhythm of the city and the race. It is an inclusive poster, where everyone has a place," explained the artist from Falset. The t-shirts can be purchased at El Corte Inglés stores in Diagonal, Plaça Catalunya, and Can Dragó, as well as through its online store.

The event will once again count on the participation of Aigües de Barcelona and TMB. Water supplied by the entity will be available at the refreshment stations. In the same vein, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona will facilitate mobility for participants. When collecting the race numbers, they will give runners a single ticket valid for metro and bus that they can use on the day of the race to get around the city.
