Kit Digital, a model that has transformed the management of aid
The initiative, which already impacts more than 3 million workers, has granted more than 937,000 aids and has driven the transformation of SMEs, self-employed and self-employed women after deploying basic digitization solutions throughout the territory
The Kit Digital program, an initiative of the Spanish government managed by Red.es, has become the most requested SME digitalization program in the history of Spain. In the case of Catalonia, more than 172,700 grants have been awarded, the equivalent of over 684.1 million euros. For its part, in the province of Barcelona, approximately 125,100 grants have been given, representing 493.4 million euros. Furthermore, this province has, with its headquarters in the region, more than 1,875 active digital agents. In the city of Barcelona alone, more than 44,100 digital vouchers have been delivered, equivalent to over 170.3 million euros. In this region, the adoption of secure workstations, the implementation of websites, and process management stand out among the most requested solutions, while financial activities, trade and hospitality, other services, and the construction sector are the sectors with the largest concentration of grants awarded.
At the state level and to date, Kit Digital has awarded more than 937,000 grants, the equivalent of over 3.6 billion euros.
As can be seen from the data, the program stands out for its sectoral capillarity and for introducing a new model of relationship between the administration and citizens, based on active listening, support, proactive transparency, and intelligent automation.
With the set objective of reaching 676,000 SMEs, Kit Digital has exceeded its goals, as, at the closing of the application process, the grants awarded were equivalent to 127% of the planned objective, after processing more than 1.2 million applications.
Transparency and accountability: Kit Digital 360°
In late 2025, Red.es published the Kit Digital 360° portal, an open data platform that centralizes the most relevant information on the program's design, development, and results. The portal includes an interactive and territorialized dashboard, allowing consultation of the distribution of aid granted, comparative data on the progress in digitalization of beneficiary companies, and analysis of the most requested technological solutions. This information is presented visually and updated, facilitating public access to data and continuous monitoring of fund execution.
Kit Digital 360° constitutes an exercise in transparency in public fund management, by making an interactive dashboard available to citizens that facilitates monitoring of execution and evaluation of the program's impact.
Impact on employment and territory
Since its launch on March 15, 2022, and after the implementation of five calls, the program has reached 100% of Spanish provinces and over 92% of Spanish municipalities, reaching 9 out of 10 rural areas. This broad coverage has also extended to all sectors of activity, including traditionally less digitized fields such as construction, transport, or the agri-food and livestock sector.
In total, more than 1.5 million digitalization projects have been launched, ranging from the creation and improvement of websites to process automation, customer management, cybersecurity, or data analysis.
This boost translates, according to the Kit Digital Program Balance Report of November 2025, into a productivity increase of up to 65% thanks to the implementation of Kit Digital solutions and, moreover, 12% of beneficiary companies doubled their turnover between 2021 and 2023.
The implementation of these solutions has been carried out through digitalization agents. Currently, there are more than 10,600 affiliated agents, who, we recall, are the technology companies with which SMEs and self-employed individuals formalize service provision agreements. It is also the figure responsible for justifying the execution of the solutions and who, ultimately, is paid for the work done.
An agile and automated management model
Kit Digital has introduced an innovative management model, based on automation and completely digital processing, under the principle of "zero papers". This approach has significantly reduced processing times, from three hours to just three minutes per file.
To date, 24 million automatic checks have been carried out using 39 robots, meaning that 45% of applications have been automatically granted. This has resulted in an estimated saving of over 9 million hours.
In total, 91% of the processing procedure has been automated, which has allowed us to manage an unprecedented volume of applications with agility, efficiency, and legal certainty.
