In such turbulent times as these, security has become a key factor in preserving the autonomy of states. In this context, Indra Group, a leading Spanish multinational in defense, space, air traffic, mobility, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and advanced technologies—with nearly 4,000 professionals in Catalonia—attended the Mobile World Congress with IndraMind as its main attraction. This platform, conceived as the company's new technological "brain," underpins much of its progress in artificial intelligence and autonomous systems. Launched in late 2025 to address hybrid threats, Indra's new sovereign intelligence solution faces growing risks with a technological component. IndraMind can coordinate cameras, sensors, operating systems, cybersecurity, communications, alerts, and command centers in real time, providing a unified view so that institutions can make faster and more informed decisions. Indra Group is one of Europe's leading companies in defense and advanced digitalization, and IndraMind is reinforcing its contribution to security and connectivity, not only on land. This new superior cognitive intelligence has been designed to protect cities, infrastructure, and democracies, including from space. Hispasat, from Indra Space, thus takes on special relevance and also plays an essential role in balancing the geopolitical landscape and, therefore, in government communications, both in the civilian and defense sectors.

Drones, sensors, copilots and 'avatars'

Maximizing mission effectiveness and the survival of its members is vital, and the application of AI in drone swarms is crucial to their success. Autonomous navigation requires complex collaborative strategies, allowing the swarm to adapt to changes in the environment and emerging threats. Maritime intelligence, enhanced with AI, strengthens defense against hazards in near real-time. It's not just about sensors, but about the combination of massive data fusion—sensors, AIS security systems, open sources, and satellite imagery.

Copilots are an intelligent tool that reduces intervention, work, and error times, improving both operational safety and system availability, always within an on-premise environment that guarantees traceability and human control. Virtual agents, or opponents, become credible and unpredictable adversaries that faithfully replicate combat conditions, enhancing preparedness for future scenarios.

By land, sea and orbit

For the first time, the Mobile World Congress included the space sector, explicitly recognizing satellites as a strategic and vital technology. Indra Space guarantees the connectivity network in Europe. Satellites ensure critical services, manage emergencies, drive the digital economy, and reinforce the continent's strategic autonomy. In this regard, the IRIS² project represents a key step in the new European multi-orbit connectivity architecture, aimed at guaranteeing continuity, resilience, and sovereignty in crisis situations. Startical, developed with ENAIRE, has also deployed a constellation of more than 200 satellites and has already achieved a historic milestone: establishing, for the first time, real-time voice and data communications between an aircraft and a control center via an orbiting satellite. The company is also participating in Celeste, from the European Space Agency, with the VORAX satellite platform as the technological basis for the mission planned for 2027. Hispasat offers solutions for deploying private 5G networks that guarantee the resilience and security of companies, actively participates in the definition of the Telecommunications Technology Center of Catalonia, and has launched the HispasatLab to validate advanced satellite connectivity technologies, based in Catalonia. Among its most advanced technologies in defense, mobility, and digitalization, Indra presented at Mobile World Congress 2026 the VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft unit, its secure communications and Earth observation systems with the VORAX satellite platform, designed for a key role in air surveillance radars, and the development of the European Future Combat Air System (FCAS). In smart mobility, the new system stands out. ticketing for Transport for London and the T-Mobilitat platform, also in Barcelona, which was awarded the Transport Ticketing Awards 2025.

Formula 1 as a testing ground

Minsait, Indra Group's advanced technology company, offers digital solutions that complement its offering with AI, data, cloud, and cybersecurity services for businesses and public administrations, ensuring secure and efficient connectivity. Minsait demonstrates how mobility is transforming operations in production plants by connecting workers, facilitating real-time data for decision-making, and reducing response times. Private 5G networks and critical communications are consolidating as the cornerstone enabling system convergence and driving a more connected, efficient, and resilient industry. In this context, cyber resilience and data control by design become key factors for companies to scale securely, maintain uninterrupted production, and compete on the global stage. At Mobile World Congress, Indra Group showcased a BWT Alpine Formula One Team car at its booth. The team already utilizes IndraMind technology. The agreement transforms this highly competitive environment into an innovation lab where artificial intelligence can be demonstrated to optimize processes, analyze vast amounts of data, and facilitate real-time decision-making in highly complex contexts. In an increasingly complex and regulated championship—with technical and sporting changes driven by the Fédération Internationale del Automobile—the intelligent management of information, resources, and energy becomes a determining factor for success.
