A woman and her daughter live together for years with the corpse of a man at home

The Mossos d'Esquadra found the corpse of a man this Tuesday in Cabrera d'Anoia inside a house where his wife and daughter resided. According to the two relatives, they had been living with the body inside the home for approximately two years, and they had not left the house since the COVID pandemic.

The police received a warning from neighbors in the Can Formiga residential area of Cabrera, where the house in question is located. The neighbors alerted that they had not seen the family or heard anything from them for some time, but they could hear movements in the house. Upon entering, the Mossos found the lifeless body of a 75-year-old man, apparently with no signs of foul play. As ARA has learned, there was a large accumulation of objects inside the house and filth had accumulated around it.

Police sources have indicated that in the inspection of the body and the scene, no signs were observed that the man had died violently, which is why they point to death by natural causes. Yesterday, the removal of the corpse was carried out, and it was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Barcelona.

The two residents of the home, mother and daughter, have been transferred to a healthcare center to receive medical and social attention and have not been detained. The police have opened an investigation to clarify the facts, waiting for the autopsy to determine the cause of death and the approximate date of death. Based on this data, furthermore, it will be possible to determine the minimum number of years that the mother and daughter have lived in the same house with the corpse.
