The husband and father of the woman and girl murdered in Xilxes has been arrested.

ValenciaThe Civil Guard has arrested the husband of the 48-year-old woman who was murdered along with her 12-year-old daughter in the Valencian town of Xilxes, in the Plana Baixa region, this Tuesday. The man was already under arrest since the bodies were discovered for violating a restraining order issued against him. Now, he is also being investigated for the possible involvement in the double murder, according to the Spanish Government Delegation in the Valencian Community.

The victims' bodies were found with signs of violence in an apartment in the town. Emergency services received a call about a possible crime on Tuesday afternoon: a local police patrol and a Civil Guard patrol were urgently dispatched to the scene. The woman found dead was registered in the VioGén system and had undergone a risk assessment a few days prior, which had determined her risk to be "medium." The husband had a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching within 300 meters of the woman, valid until 2027. The Civil Guard has requested footage from the municipal cameras that focus on the house where the bodies of the woman and her daughter were found, as explained by the mayor. The aim is to analyze whether the recordings can provide any clues about movements in the area or about the possible entry or exit of anyone from the property in the hours leading up to the incident. The mayor indicated that, according to the father, who is now in custody, he received images via WhatsApp on his mobile phone that led him to go to the house. "I'm only speaking for what he told me," he said, adding that all this information is now in the hands of the Civil Guard. According to sources close to the investigation who confirmed this to EFE, the head of the Local Police received photos showing the bodies and someone wearing a hood nearby. More than a hundred residents of Xilxes, including a brother of the murdered woman, gathered this Wednesday in front of the Town Hall to observe five minutes of silence in memory of the two victims. During the event, those present expressed their condemnation of the events and their support for the family. The Department of Education has also activated its crisis intervention protocol to provide emotional support to the students and the entire educational community of the school where the murdered woman studied.
