The man who allegedly started the fire turned himself in at the local police station, where he was arrested. This was explained by the Spanish government's sub-delegate in Burgos, Pedro de la Fuente. The exact causes are still unknown, and investigators are not ruling out any hypotheses. The fire broke out around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday in a low-rise building. Initial reports indicated that at least two people were trapped inside and unable to escape. Local and National Police officers, firefighters from Miranda de Ebro, and several ambulance crews from the Sacyl Emergency Medical Service were dispatched to the scene. Medical personnel treated seven people, two of whom died at the scene. The other five were taken to the hospital, where one of them died from the severity of their injuries. Among the injured, in addition to the two minors, were a 30-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman, and a 58-year-old woman. The town's mayor has declared three days of official mourning and called for a minute of silence for the victims.
