They are investigating whether there was asphyxia in the death of the architect Josep Juanpere

BarcelonaThe death of the renowned Catalan architect Josep Juanpere was initially attributed to a heart attack. He was with his partner at their second home in Baqueira when, after not answering the phone for hours, his nephew went there and discovered the architect's lifeless body, with his wife by his side. The autopsy is one of the keys to this case, which is open for homicide, and the wife, who this Friday managed to be released on bail by paying 80,000 euros, is the only person under investigation.

As ARA has learned, one of the hypotheses that the Mossos d'Esquadra have on the table is that there could have been asphyxiation in Juanpere's death. The deceased's autopsy was not initially clear, although it eventually pointed to a homicidal death. The possibility of asphyxiation is one of the arguments the police have for detaining the wife, added to her attitude on the day of the crime –she did not call emergency services and it was the nephew who ended up notifying them– and other elements regarding her attitude –among others, isolating herself from the victim's circle after his death.

As explained this Wednesday to ARA, the investigation does not point to poisoning as the motive for the architect's death. His passing was last December 26, St. Stephen's Day, at the second home. A few hours earlier, on the night of the 24th, the man had already gone to the hospital because he was not feeling well, a fact that was initially attributed to indigestion, but which is also linked to a strong blow to the head that Juanpere had reportedly suffered.

Purchasing power on both sides

Juanpere was an architect deeply connected to the high spheres of Catalonia, as throughout his life he designed large office buildings and hotels linked to this jet set. In fact, he was a close friend of Isak Andic, who died a year earlier, and he designed, among other things, his sailboat. The arrested woman also has high purchasing power. She is linked to companies in the hotel and restaurant sector, especially on the Costa del Sol. Both had been in a relationship for approximately two years and were not married.
