BarcelonaThe Prosecutor's Office has requested a sentence of 26 years in prison for Santi Laiglesia, the main suspect in the murder of Helena Jubany in 2001 in Sabadell. In addition to a murder charge, the public ministry also attributes another charge of illegal detention to him. Laiglesia spent 41 days in provisional prison for this case between the end of 2025 and the beginning of this year, and at the time the Prosecutor's Office's sentencing request became known, he is free.

On the other hand, the prosecutor has requested that the case against the other investigated person, Xavier Jiménez, be dismissed, and also does not consider it necessary to try the third suspect, Ana Echaguibel. Her case was already dismissed once it was ruled out that the female DNA traces on Jubany's clothing were hers.
