"It's no wonder you thought I was capable of killing you": Jonathan Andic's message to his father

The Prosecutor's Office says the indications "contradict" the son's version and opposes returning his passport

BarcelonaThe Public Prosecutor's Office has opposed the appeal by which Jonathan Andic requested that the precautionary measures against him be withdrawn in the case in which he is being investigated for allegedly killing his father, Mango founder Isak Andic. In its response to the defense's appeal, the public ministry points out that there are indications in the case that "contradict" the eldest son's version of the family about "the method and circumstances" in which his father died.

Therefore, the Public Prosecutor's Office service specializing in jury trials – where the case will be heard if it goes to trial – has asked the Barcelona Court of Appeal to uphold the precautionary measures imposed by the investigating judge: she set a bail of one million euros to avoid provisional detention, withdrew his passport, and prohibited him from leaving the State while the case is being investigated. He will also have to appear weekly at the court.

Now the Public Prosecutor's Office insists on the risk that Andic may flee justice, taking into account his "very high economic capacity" and the severity of the penalties he faces. For this reason, it deems it necessary to maintain the bail to ensure that he remains available to the judicial authorities.

Messages between father and son

analyze the "influence" that the family therapist may have had on the events. As ARA reported, messages on Isak Andic's mobile phone, framed within a father-son therapy, ultimately focused attention on the eldest son. Precisely, in the public ministry's filing, which Efe has accessed, some of these messages are highlighted. The son sent a message to his father in July 2024, five months before his death, in which he celebrated the progress of the family therapy and recalled their "discussions": "No wonder you thought I was capable of even killing you," he states in one message. "I understand it was impossible to salvage our relationship, no wonder the rope broke," Jonathan told the founder of Mango via WhatsApp in July 2025.

In fact, in a message from May 2024, also included in the Mossos reports, the Andics' family psychotherapist reminded the founder of Mango that in one of their sessions he had mentioned he was thinking of "disinheriting" his eldest son. A month later, the businessman spoke with the therapist about his relationship with his son, which he described as "equally regular or bad, normal," and summarized it: "Just the diplomatic, saying hello, and that's all."

Precisely, the investigating judge in Martorell has asked the Mossos d'Esquadra to investigate whether third parties may have been involved in the homicide and, specifically, to analyze the "influence" that the family therapist may have had on the events. The family's response

The Adic family has responded to these messages, stating they are phrases "taken out of context" that are part of a more extensive message with "a positive narrative and tone from beginning to end." Family sources indicate to ACN that these are "decontextualized" statements with the sole aim of contributing to a narrative that "twists reality and fits the instruction's hypotheses." Regarding the therapy, they note that more family members participated and that conclusions cannot be drawn from "one or two phrases" aimed at a "prior social condemnation" and that they are part of the intimate sphere with "concrete codes" in which it was encouraged to express oneself "always within a metaphorical framework."

"Distorts" the defense's arguments

With the filing made public this Friday, the prosecutor responds to the appeal in which the defense of Jonathan Andic alleged an "anticipated social condemnation". As explained by the Prosecutor's Office, its appeal "thoroughly distorts each of the allegations" made by the defense, which, among other things, argued that Isak Andic had previously fallen due to knee problems and asserted that the forensic reports contained "nothing incriminating" against the eldest son.

The precautionary measures that the Prosecutor's Office requests to maintain are the same as those initially requested, while the defense claimed provisional liberty without precautionary measures. The judge of Martorell investigating the death of Isak Andic as a homicide opted to send his son to provisional prison, avoidable with a bail of one million euros. The eldest son of the Andic family deposited this amount in a matter of minutes without entering prison.
