BarcelonaThe Prosecutor's Office has opposed the appeal with which Jonathan Andic requested that the precautionary measures against him be withdrawn in the case in which he is being investigated for allegedly killing his father, Mango founder Isak Andic, according to sources from the public ministry. In its response to the defense's appeal, it points out that there are indications in the case that "contradict" the version of the family's eldest son regarding "the method and circumstances" in which his father died.

For this reason, the Prosecutor's Office service specializing in jury court – where the case will be judged if it goes to trial – has asked the Barcelona Court to maintain the precautionary measures imposed by the investigating judge: she set a bail of one million euros to avoid provisional detention, withdrew his passport, and prohibited him from leaving the State while the case is being investigated. He will also have to appear in court every week.

"Distorts" the defense's argumentsThe Prosecutor's Office points out that there are indications in the case against Jonathan Andic that derive mainly from police reports, geolocation data, and the content of the victim's mobile phone. It also highlights the relevance of the call log of the investigated person at the time of the events, as well as the photographic report of the crime scene. The Prosecutor's Office considers that all of this contradicts the investigated person's version regarding "the method and circumstances" of his father's death and also the existence of a "supposed good relationship" between Jonathan and Isak Andic, especially taking into account the messages in the case.

"It undermines" the defense's arguments

With the document made public this Friday, the prosecutor responds to the appeal in which the defense of Jonathan Andic denounced an "anticipatory social condemnation". According to the Prosecutor's Office, its appeal "thoroughly distorts each of the allegations" made by the defense, which, among other things, argued that Isak Andic had previously fallen due to knee problems and asserted that there was "nothing incriminating" against the eldest son in the forensic reports.

The precautionary measures that the Prosecutor's Office requests to maintain are the same as those initially requested, while the defense claimed provisional liberty without precautionary measures. The judge of Martorell investigating the death of Isak Andic as a homicide opted to send her son to provisional prison, avoidable with a bail of one million euros. The eldest son of the Andic family deposited this amount in a matter of minutes without being imprisoned.
