ValenciaThe Valencia Prosecutor's Office does not rule out investigating the ultra group Àngels de la Nit for a possible hate crime after a video was released showing them patrolling streets and intimidating immigrants, as reported to Europa Press by the section of the public ministry responsible for hate crimes and democratic memory, headed by prosecutor Susana Gisbert.
The National Police has identified three members of the group, according to sources from the central government's Subdelegation. Furthermore, security forces state that the actions of protecting citizens are their responsibility and are not linked to the gang. The members began a tour on Saturday, August 22, along Malva-rosa beach, in the Marítim neighborhood of Valencia to, as they explained, "dissuade possible conflict situations." However, the video shows that they are the ones who aggressively approach racialized individuals.
Public denunciation by Compromís
The Compromís deputy, Alberto Ibáñez, has brought this issue to the Congress of Deputies and has presented a list of questions regarding the measures adopted by the Ministry of the Interior in the face of "the impunity with which these fascist squads act", who "pose as groups of neighbors who monitor possible situations of insecurity in their neighborhoods".
"Although they try to pose as groups of neighbors who monitor possible situations of insecurity in their neighborhoods, they are in reality perfectly orchestrated fascist groups dedicated to intimidating immigrants, mainly Arabs, with the aim of stirring up the fable of growing insecurity before the eyes of residents and pedestrians," Ibáñez declared.
