An incident in the Glòries station tunnel cuts off Line 1 for three hours.
Since 1:30 p.m., the service has only been operating from Bellvitge Hospital to the University and from La Sagrera to the Fondo.
BarcelonaAn incident in the Glòries station tunnel has forced a three-hour closure of Metro Line 1 between La Sagrera and Universitat. According to sources from Barcelona Metropolitan Transport (TMB), at around 1:30 p.m., an asphalt sheet covering part of the tunnel wall came down.
In an attempt to repair the situation, it was necessary to de-energize the metro section between La Sagrera and Universitat. Therefore, for three hours, the line only operated between Hospital de Bellvitge and Universitat and between Clot and Fondo. Finally, normal service was restored at 4:45 p.m.
The temporary closure of Line 1 coincided with the previously scheduled closure of Line 2 between La Pau and Badalona Pompeu Fabra stations. In this case, TMB has scheduled a shuttle bus service to cover the route between these two stations. It also recommends taking the Tram from Besòs station, as it goes to Sant Roc and Gorg.
The coincidence of this work—to carry out work on the track platforms at Artigues and Pep Ventura stations—with the outage on Line 1 has hampered all travel from central Barcelona to Barcelonès Nord.
This weekend, Line 1 was already closed between La Sagrera and Glòries due to accessibility improvements at Clot station. Specifically, five elevators will be installed connecting the lobby and platform to adapt this interchange for people with reduced mobility.
