Isak Andic's inheritance during life: the therapist points out that it served for Jonathan to detach himself from his father
The 'coach' wanted the son to have more personal and economic independence
BarcelonaThe therapy that Jonathan Andic and Isak Andic were undergoing to improve their father-son relationship is one of the elements at the center of the investigation to try to clarify how the founder of Mango died. In the midst of this therapy was a coach, J.L., who practiced a method inspired by Freud and his metaphorical theory of the death of the father. J.L.'s role is key to the point that the judge is investigating whether she was involved in the businessman's death, and this Tuesday she spent two hours and forty minutes testifying, leaving the courts as a witness and not as a suspect. From J.L.'s therapy, advanced by this newspaper, the messages from Jonathan to Isak such as "I'm not surprised you thought I was capable of killing you" have emerged. Furthermore, the judge also indicates that the coach allegedly facilitated the founder of Mango handing over a lifetime inheritance to his son, with the aim of not losing their relationship. The entire process of this lifetime inheritance, according to the judge, was mediated by J.L. The magistrate also spoke of Jonathan Andic's "obsession with money".
Therefore, one of the questions the therapist had to answer in court this Tuesday was what the purpose of this lifetime inheritance was and how it was managed. According to judicial sources, J.L. explained that the lifetime inheritance was a way for Jonathan Andic to detach himself from his father. J.L. reportedly explained that one of the therapy's objectives was for the son to have personal independence from his father – linked to Freud's concept of "killing the father" – and that this independence also extended to the financial sphere. In this way, the therapist tried to rule out any ulterior motives. The ultimate goal of the therapy was also to improve the relationship between the two. As reported by Efe, the cost of the wedding banquet for Jonathan Andic, who ended up getting married in September 2024, was another of the friction points discussed in family therapy.
Professional secrecy
J.L. is a therapist who is not registered in Spain and, therefore, could not avail herself of her professional secrecy this Tuesday. Her explanations –responding to all parties in the case as all witnesses do– meant that she did not leave the Martorell courts as a suspect. In fact, her sister, who helps her with some therapies, also testified. She is a therapist known in high circles, but who opts for a low profile on social media.
This Tuesday was also the turn for the testimony of Estefania Knuth, widow of Isak Andic and stepmother of Jonathan Andic. Above all, she described the relationship between father and son, which she specified had its ups and downs. Once the testimony was finished, she handed over her mobile phone to the courts to empty its contents and access the conversations she had, for example, with the eldest son of the Andics. The two hikers who met Jonathan shortly after his father's death also testified and also handed over their mobile phones for emptying. In their case, it may be important for reconstructing the route they took that day.
In the case of Estefanía Knuth, her testimony – she had already testified previously – is also important for delving into the relationship between father and son and into the intentions Isak Andic had with his inheritance. In fact, the founder of Mango was considering setting up a foundation, of which his children would have been the trustees.
