Investigate who fired a projectile at a Correllengua participant in Cardedeu

BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating an incident during the passage of the Correllengua Agermanat –the race that travels through Catalan-speaking territories to advocate for the unity and promotion of the language– through the town of Cardedeu, in Vallès Oriental. According to sources consulted by ARA, a person participating in the race suffered a wound to the neck that could have been caused by a projectile.

The investigation is open to clarify what type of projectile was fired and by whom. According to municipal sources, it is necessary to extract the projectile from the young man's neck to determine what type of bullet it is. The surgical operation has already been carried out this Wednesday. Initially, it was spoken of a pellet, but now it is not ruled out that it was a BB.

Investigators have also determined that there were trabucaires (firearms enthusiasts) in the area. Despite this, according to people present on the route, the trabucaires fired about 100 meters before the incident. This is also confirmed by sources from the trabucaires, who add that they had passed all the necessary checks by the Civil Guard beforehand. They insist that they fired the trabucos into the air and a few minutes later the victim received the impact of the projectile. The victim was riding a bicycle at the time of the events.

In a social media post, the Correllengua organization explains that "a person had to be assisted by medical services and hospitalized." They clarify that "he is well and stable" and state that the incident was caused "by a person external to the organization." "Until the Mossos clarify what happened, we call for collective responsibility to facilitate the process of finding out what happened and to ensure the participant's privacy and comfort," conclude the organizers.
