The last chance to win the lottery before welcoming 2026 is the New Year's Eve Draw. For the 13th consecutive year, Loterías de Cataluña will distribute five top prizes: the Grossa is worth €200,000 per ticket; the second prize, €65,000; and the third, €30,000. Each of the fourth prizes is worth €10,000 per ticket, and each of the three fifth prizes, €5,000.

If you already have your number for the draw or if you're still planning to buy one, don't miss this news: you can follow the gala live on ARA, and once the draw has taken place, you can also check here if you have a winning number.

The winning number for the 2024 New Year's Eve Draw was 44,748. It fell into a tobacco shop in Reuswhere only seven of the 35 tickets with this combination were sold. The second prize went to those who trusted the number 81,612, sold in a bookstore in Les Borges Blanques and La Seu d'Urgell, and the third prize also went to a tobacconist, this time in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, with the number 96,522.

What day and time will the draw take place?

The 2025 New Year's Eve draw for El Gordo will take place on the last day of the year, Wednesday, December 31st. The 13th edition of La Grossa will begin distributing prizes around 1 p.m. Winners must claim their prizes within 90 days of the draw date, as this is when they expire.

Price of a ticket for the Christmas Lottery

The Grossa lottery has always offered a prize of €20,000 for every euro wagered, but the ticket price has changed. In the early years it cost €5, but this has increased to the current €10. The prizes have also grown proportionally: in the first draws, €100,000 was awarded for each ticket with the winning number for the Grossa's top prize, and in recent years, €200,000.

Who is the face of La Grossa?

It is a giant papier-mâché figure from Alella inspired by Roser Arenas, former justice of the peace in the municipality between 1998 and 2007. The original figure was made in 1986, imitating the physiognomy of Arenas, who died at the end of August 2014.

Who organizes the raffle?

The draw is organized by Loterías de Cataluña, which reports to the Department of Economy. It was founded in 1986 as the Autonomous Gaming and Betting Entity of the Generalitat (Catalan Government), but in 2020 it began a transformation process to become a single-member limited liability company. This change allows the company—if it so chooses—to bring in additional shareholders and external capital, and also grants it greater flexibility in terms of administrative oversight than if it were an autonomous entity. Both structures are subject to public procurement law, but in limited liability companies, oversight mechanisms are applied retrospectively.

Who gets the profits?

Since its inception, Loteries de Catalunya has allocated "100% of its profits" to the budget of the Department of Social Rights. According to its website, this money has been used for various initiatives, such as programs to protect children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, as well as to address situations of vulnerability and homelessness.

What happens if the winning number is not sold?

In fact, it wouldn't be the first time the winning combination has gone unclaimed: in 2014, the Grossa number, 92,484 – which carries a prize of €32,500 per ticket – wasn't sold anywhere. In these cases, the prize money also goes to social funds.
