A truck catches fire on the AP-7 during the Sant Joan bridge exit operation.
Traffic jams are also concentrated at the entrances to Barcelona and the Costa Brava.

BarcelonaCatalonia faces the first phase of the operation to exit the Sant Joan bridge this Friday afternoon. The Catalan Traffic Service predicts that 470,000 vehicles will leave the metropolitan area and that the return will affect 260,000 more. At this time of the afternoon, the first queues are already being recorded, especially on the AP-7 and at the entrances to Barcelona.
In fact, the Mediterranean Motorway has a northbound lane closed near Santa Perpetua de Mogoda due to a burning truck, which the Fire Department has already extinguished. On the same road, there are traffic jams between Sant Cugat and Cerdanyola in the Girona direction, between Cardedeu and Martorell in the Tarragona direction, and between Cardedeu and Martorell in the same direction. A broken-down truck in Cambrils has also caused a southbound lane to be closed. Traffic recommends taking the A-7 at this point. You can follow the traffic evolution live at this link.
Other roads are experiencing traffic jams, such as the C-32 between Premià de Mar and Vilassar de Dalt heading towards Girona. There are also queues on the C-58 and C-33 motorways to access Barcelona, on the B-20 towards El Prat, on the A-2 motorway near Cornellà heading towards Lleida, and on the Catalan capital's ring roads. The first queues are being recorded on the Costa Brava, concentrated in the Llagostera area, with four kilometers of traffic jams on the C-65 heading towards Palamós. There are also queues on the C-35.
To manage this flow, a special mobility system has been designed with additional lanes on the AP-7, restrictions for trucks, online radars, and road inspection flights. At the same time, mobile panels will be reinforced to improve signage and information. The Interior Ministry has announced that an intensive drug and alcohol testing campaign will also be carried out from June 19 to 25, in collaboration with local police. These tests will be random and conducted at different times of the day.
