Barcelona Marathon: how it will affect traffic and public transport

The restrictions begin on Saturday on Passeig de Gràcia and will continue throughout Sunday, affecting mobility.

BarcelonaThe Zurich Barcelona Marathon 2026 The race will take place on Sunday, March 15th, starting at 8:30 a.m. on Passeig de Gràcia, and will pass through several iconic locations in the city center. Now in its 47th edition, the event is expected to attract more than 30,000 runners and will cause significant disruptions to traffic and public transport, especially on Sunday morning.

Traffic restrictions and schedules

Traffic disruptions will begin on Saturday, March 14, with the setup of the starting area on Passeig de Gràcia. On Sunday, coinciding with the marathon, road closures will extend along much of the route, especially between 6:30 a.m. and the early afternoon. The race will start at 8:30 a.m., and traffic will be gradually restored as the runners progress. Parking restrictions along the course will be clearly marked in advance.

Public transport affected

The marathon will also bring significant changes to public transport, especially the bus network. Between 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., several bus lines will be diverted or have their routes shortened, including the D20, D50, H8, H10, H12, H14, H16, V9, V11, V13, V15, V17, V19, V21, V23, and the V12 red and blue routes of the Barcelona Bus Turístic. There will also be disruptions to the tram on lines T4, T5, and T6, particularly between Glòries and Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica.
