BarcelonaThe method of the crime, with a car stopping without asking questions and shooting at a target, already pointed to revenge. An execution traditionally linked to drug trafficking and often carried out by a hitman. This is what happened in the early hours of Sunday at the exit of the Chicago Latino nightclub, in an industrial estate in Terrassa. The man was shot five times, and the emergency services were unable to revive him. The vehicle, with a foreign number plate, fled. The Mossos d'Esquadra have identified the gunman, but no arrests have yet been made.

The police are also clear about who opened fire a few hours later, at midday, in the same town in the Vallsana. In front of a hairdresser's, a man fired a shot at the foot of another man. According to the ARA, everything points to an open war between Dominican marijuana drug trafficking gangs. A conflict over drugs would have been the trigger for the first execution. And the second shooting would have been revenge for the first: it would be the victim's brother who opened fire in the hairdresser's. In fact, the Mossos recently carried out an operation in this business, where they suspect that drugs are trafficked, and this could be one of the triggers for the conflict.

The Mossos have identified the gangs and are still working to clarify the events. Dominican gangs linked to drug trafficking are characterized by violence and access to firearms. The Terrassa homicide was the thirteenth of the year and the twelfth was recorded the day before: The death of a 35-year-old woman in Blanes, allegedly at the hands of her partner, and which the Government has already condemned as the first femicide of the year 2025.

Without leaving the clans

On the same Sunday, another shooting was reported in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona. It was in the afternoon and, according to sources consulted by the ARA, it had nothing to do with the war between drug traffickers in Terrassa. In this case, neighbours reported some shots and the Mossos patrols that approached the scene found bullet casings on the ground. Someone had fired, but the main hypothesis is that they were thrown into the air and no one was hurt. According to the ARA, the main hypothesis is that the shooting was also due to a conflict between clans linked to drugs in the Barcelonès area, most likely from La Mina, but not from Terrassa.
