More than two decades later, Helena Jubany's crime is on the verge of trial. Jubany's family's defense and the Public Prosecutor's Office have already submitted their briefs accusing Santi Laiglesia and requesting sentences of 26 years in prison. Now, one of the few steps remaining to set a date for the trial is for Laiglesia's lawyer to submit his defense brief. For now, however, the lawyer has requested more time to submit it. The reason? He is awaiting a counter-report on DNA to try and refute the evidence implicating the accused.

These are statements by the Minister of Economy, Alícia Romero, to Catalunya Ràdio about the macro-project that has been decisive to unblock the approval of the budgets: the orbital railway line. ERC wants to reactivate a plan that has been in a drawer for twenty years to give its "yes" to the accounts. In fact, the Republicans present it as a future bet for a network that this year has experienced an unprecedented crisis and is still trying to recover some semblance of normality.

The Olympic Village murderer earned this nickname the night he was celebrating his 18th birthday. The pilot plan to place agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra in Catalan schools has not been well received. It has been rejected by educational unions, but also by the majority of the centers where it was planned to be implemented.The trial has also generated internal criticism within the Catalan police regarding the way it has been designed and communicated. Among the few centers that have agreed to be part of the pilot plan, some are located in El Prat de Llobregat. This Friday, thousands of people have passed through the parish of Sant Agustí in Barcelona to celebrate Saint Rita. It is a festival deeply linked to this order, which is the Pope's order, and deeply rooted in Catalonia. They came from everywhere, with roses to offer and pray. Next year there will be 4,989 new vocational training places, expanding the range with six new courses in the areas with the greatest labor needs. Notice, parents and children –some of them minors– committing thefts together on Barcelona buses. The youngest was 16 years old and the oldest 75. They were a group of up to 35 people who pretended to be a happy family among the seats of the bus, but whose objective was to steal wallets and mobile phones. Afterwards, they also tried to scam with mobile phone data. There is also a group of five criminals who accounted for 18% of the robberies in one month on the same means of transport. Or another group of ten people who divided their roles, and while some committed the thefts, others tried to access the bank data of the stolen mobile phones to carry out scams. They all lived in an occupied apartment in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Some used card readers to make immediate payments with the stolen cards.

New –and third– consecutive key day on Barcelona's Via Augusta. This Friday at noon, education unions met again with a new proposal from the Department of Education on the table, but the meeting did not end with an agreement and positions have moved further apart again. However, the Government and trade union organizations will meet again on Tuesday. Upon leaving the meeting, the spokesperson for USTEC, Iolanda Segura, said that the proposal presented to them by the department "is not an acceptable proposal" and that they had already rejected it. Segura complained that the offer had not been framed within the negotiation framework that the unions presented on Thursday and once again issued an ultimatum:

Nearly 1.2 billion people worldwide live with a mental disorder, almost double the figure recorded in 1990. This is a blatant increase that places them as the leading cause of disability ahead of cardiovascular diseases and cancer, and they already account for one in six cases, according to a study by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) and the University of Queensland. The research findings are published in the journal The Lancet and indicate that they disproportionately affect adolescents between 15 and 19 years old and women. "These upward trends may reflect both the lingering effects of pandemic-related stress and long-term structural drivers, such as poverty, insecurity, abuse, violence, and declining social connectivity," explains Damian Santomauro, an associate professor at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research.

The Government and the Third Sector Table approved this Wednesday the forgiveness of the debt for electricity bills that vulnerable families have accumulated between 2022 and 2025. The measure is part of the expired agreement signed with Endesa in March 2021, and will mean that thousands of families will not have to pay unpaid bills, without risk of being reported. On the eve of the approval of the Generalitat's budgets, Salvador Illa and the president of the Table, Xavier Trabado, have formalized the agreement between both parties to allocate 250 million euros to strengthen social policies, from the fight against energy poverty to the promotion of employment, the fight against homelessness or child poverty.
