The secretary general of the PP youth wing switches to Vox
Carlo G. Angrisano resigns as number two of New Generations and asks for votes for Santiago Abascal's party
BarcelonaCarlo G. Angrisano, until now the number two in the PP's youth wing, Nuevas Generaciones, has announced his resignation as secretary general and his move to Vox. In a video released on X, he explained that he believes "the PP has stopped defending the values" for which he joined and that, "for the sake of consistency," he is asking for "votes for Vox." Angrisano, who has also resigned from the PP, says he joined the party in 2012 from Barcelona "out of love for Spain, its identity, its history, its freedom, and the dignity of our people," because all of this, he says, was being "questioned and trampled on by separatism." Now, however, he believes the PP no longer defends these ideals and that Santiago Abascal's party does so better.
"I was one of many Spaniards convinced that the People's Party should protect the best of our country," explained the second-in-command of the People's Party youth wing. He believes, however, that the party led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo is now acting out of electoral calculation: "Parties don't start losing when they stop winning elections, but when they lose sight of what they're defending." "And when a political project is more afraid of losing votes than defending what's right, it ends up losing both," he lamented. For all these reasons, he asks for votes for Santiago Abascal's party because its ideas "remain firm" and its "principles unwavering": "The position from which they can defend themselves has changed." "It's time to defend our ideas and Spain without fear," Angrisano concluded. The move by the former number two in the PP's youth wing comes at a time when Vox is closing in on the People's Party in the polls published in recent months, but also when the two parties are negotiating coalition governments in Extremadura and Aragon.
As he explains in the video, Angrisano, in addition to being the number two in the New Generations (youth wing), also chaired the student organization of the European People's Party and was a member of the PP's national executive committee. Until now, he was also an advisor to the People's Party in the European Parliament. In fact, according to reports The reasonThe party had already dismissed Angrisano from this position last summer.
