Mazón is no longer the PP's sympathizer, and Feijóo embraces him: "You've done a good job."
The Valencian president tries to emerge from isolation despite strong criticism.

BarcelonaThe isolation of Valencian President Carlos Mazón was a given after his questionable handling of the catastrophic DANA (National Action Plan for the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) in the Valencian Community. But all this is now history within the PP, at least as far as the support he receives from Madrid is concerned. At the demonstration in the Spanish capital against the "mafia" of the Spanish government, a retinue of loyalists had already organized, applauding him while waving flags. This Tuesday, he received the full support of the party's leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, at an event that included lunch in Alicante, the Valencian politician's hometown. With hugs from the Galician politician and applause from a thousand members, the leader of the Consell emerged strengthened and demonstrated his harmony with the PP cadres and with a particularly overwhelmed Feijóo: "You've done a good job," he said.
The PP leader has even called for "this work to be completed," after praising "the most generous, rapid, agile, and efficient budget of all the budgets that have been available." These Valencian accounts have been closed thanks to Mazón a pact with Vox, after embracing his most forceful positions. "It was the beginning of the recovery and you have delivered," Feijóo emphasized. And he insisted: "After eight months [of the DANA], I have come to the conclusion that Sánchez's objective is to suffocate the Community of Valencia [sic], without aid, financing, or budgets." He also had time to say that "it is manifestly unfair that, in order to persecute a political adversary, an entire people is being punished," which is what he believes the Spanish president is doing by not giving "a single euro" to finance essential public services. Mazón responded with praise and boasting about his work.
"I can feel proud," he said. "For two years we have been doing what we promised we would do." And he boasted about the budget, which he wanted to approve "no matter the cost," to achieve "reconstruction." He also shifted all responsibility to Sánchez for the controversial management of the DANA (National Action Plan for the Defense of the Autonomous Community of Valencia): "The greatest catastrophe in the history of the region has arrived; no one has any doubt that we were left alone," he said, and asserted that they suffered from a lack of "cooperation." The head of the Valencian government, encouraged by the constant applause, after a long list of thanks, also said that the PP congress in July "is the most important in the history of Spain" to put an end to a state government that he has identified with "lies" and that he has contrasted with the "truth" and "honesty" of the PP. The event's motto was precisely: Values, like everyone on Feijóo's tour before the congress.
From discomfort to hug
The total discomfort that the state leadership of the PP displayed with Mazón seems to have now vanished. The PP leadership is framing Tuesday's event as Feijóo's normal presence in the region ahead of the PP congress, scheduled for the first weekend of July, and as a search for internal support. They don't consider his attitude toward Mazón to indicate anything special, considering his presence normal as a Valencian president for whom they have never withdrawn their support.
The fact is that Mazón even had changed routines to avoid the press and the people avoided popular festivals and opted for a more secluded agenda. Questioned internally, with massive demonstrations demanding that it be folded and with new popular opponents such as former president Francisco Camps, also received criticism from the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who At first, he did not even rule out his resignation and reproached him for some of his actions.Feijóo then attempted to question only the Spanish government's management, saying that Mazón had already appeared in the Valencian Parliament to examine the management of the DANA (National Development Plan) and praising his commitment to reconstruction, without endorsing him as the next candidate for the Generalitat in the upcoming elections.
Criticism
The spokesperson for Compromís, Águeda Micó, has already criticized Mazón's lunch event, saying that she doesn't know whether she is "more disgusted by that dinarot or by Mazón's appearance at the demonstration as if he were a rock star." In her opinion, Feijóo has "Stockholm syndrome."
