It began with the defense statement of businessman Julio Martínez Martínez to the National Court, in which he implicated the former Spanish president in the rescue of Plus Ultra; and it ends with Zapatero's first interview since he was charged on May 19. The former PSOE leader maintains his innocence: this Thursday he again denied any dealings with the Spanish government to obtain credit for the Venezuelan-capital airline; and explained that the jewelry was a "courtesy gift" without explaining its origin.
