Earthquake in PSC of Salou for curriculum vitae forgery
The clash between the mayor and a councilwoman over the accreditation of her resume extends within the PSC
BarcelonaSalou is suffering a political storm following the case of falsified or erroneous resumes. What happened in this municipality in Tarragonès? Just as it happened with the former deputy secretary of the PP Noelia Núñez, who resigned due to liesBerrio did not submit the documentation within the two-month period, but she did so at the end of March, explaining that she had not had access to her corporate email. However, Berrio is not the only one involved in the résumé case, as other councilors were also implicated, some of whom still have qualifications that they have not accredited or rectified. Councilors from the government Júlia Gómez (PSC), Noelia Izquierdo (PSC), and Marçal Curto (ERC) had accreditation problems, as did opposition councilors Ignacio Duran (from the local party USAP) and the unaffiliated former Vox member, Josefa Aguirre. In the plenary session, the mayor committed to dismissing anyone who lied, although in practice, the focus has only been on Berrio.
The résumés in question
What errors or misrepresentations have the councilors mentioned committed? Gómez had stated he had "higher education" and had to rectify it, saying it was "secondary." Izquierdo has not yet been able to provide proof of two courses – one specialization in leisure and entertainment management at URV, and an acting training postgraduate at the La Casona theater school. In Curto's case, it has been evidenced that he has not completed high school and has not provided the industrial maintenance technician title. Aguirre has not provided proof of various "coach" courses, as well as tourism studies. And in Duran's case, he has already corrected the errors he had, such as in nomenclature, as he did not have law and forensic studies, but is currently studying criminalistics.
Berrio also ended up correcting his errors: he went from being an early childhood educator from UAB to having vocational training as a kindergarten teacher – some voices speak of an error in transcription – in a curriculum that also notes that he is still pursuing a degree in political science.
Accusation of workplace harassment
Curiously, Vox initially requested the resignation of all those who had submitted resumes, but later supported Berrio upon seeing that the mayor focused only on her. In fact, he offered legal support, hinting at a possible case of workplace harassment. Despite various local voices reaffirming the harassment thesis –which outrages the mayor–, the councilwoman has shown no signs of wanting to file any complaint. At the same time, the PSC already stated in a press release that there cannot be differential treatment and intends to protect the honor of a person who is a member of the federation's executive committee.
At this point, the case of her resume is before the socialist guarantees committee and a resolution will be issued within fifteen days. Although there are increasingly annoyed voices with Granados, at this point the majority will of the PSC is to renew the pact with the current mayor, despite the friction. It should be remembered that Granados and the list she heads is linked to the PSC, but it is an alliance between the socialists and the local platform Sumem, headed by the mayor, who had previously run for CiU.
As the ARA has been able to ascertain, pending a formal meeting that has yet to take place, there have been recent contacts between the socialist Secretary of Municipal Policy, Sandra Guaita, and Granados, with the aim of "lowering tensions" and reaffirming that, despite the discrepancies on the issue, the government pact continues.
