A dozen countries are blocking Spain's new attempt to make Catalan official in the EU.

A dozen member states of the European Union have expressed their opposition to supporting the initiative to make Catalan official in the European institutions, which should be voted on by the EU Council on May 27, according to a report by the European Commission.
