Ayuso used a public office to negotiate the purchase of an apartment in Madrid

BarcelonaIsabel Díaz Ayuso has used an advisor of hers in the Community of Madrid to search for and buy a new apartment in the Spanish capital, according to what Eldiario.es publishes this Thursday. The information from the digital outlet, which the popular leader's team has not denied, indicates that the head of office of the Madrid presidency secretariat, Álvaro Sanz, has been in charge of the arrangements for the search for Ayuso's new home: he has made contacts with representatives of at least one property, arranged visits to the property, and even participated in the negotiation of the purchase price.

Sanz, who was previously secretary of the PP in Madrid, has assisted the president since 2019, when Ayuso won her first elections. He is hired as a trusted position, appointed by decree, but holds the status of a public official. His duties, as stated on the Community's Transparency website, are the "control and coordination of the president's agenda," "coordination and organization of travel," "reception of visits and public attention," and "management of correspondence and emails," among others.

His tasks, for which he earns 93,317 euros annually, do not include making personal arrangements for Ayuso. But according to the article, he arranged up to two property visits for the president. It is a flat in the Chamberí neighborhood of about 100 square meters with a starting price of 850,000 euros. The Madrid president visited it last December and January, first alone and then with her partner, Alberto González Amador, although the purchase - for which her advisor would also have negotiated - did not ultimately materialize.
