Almost 37% of Andalusians have already voted, three points more than four years ago

BarcelonaAndalusia votes this Sunday in elections that are key for the current Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno Bonilla, who is playing to have the PP maintain the absolute majority achieved in 2022 or to become dependent on Vox. The latter scenario is one that the Popular Party has already experienced in Extremadura, Aragon, and Castilla y León, the last territories where regional elections have been held and where the PP has had to succumb to the demands of the far-right party to form a government.

At two in the afternoon, participation was 36.85%, 2.6 points above the 2022 elections. In the elections four years ago, Juanma Moreno Bonilla achieved an absolute majority after four years of government with Ciudadanos and support from outside Vox. When the polling stations close at eight in the evening, the uncertainty of what support the PSOE candidate, María Jesús Montero, will have recruited will also be resolved; polls predict a significant decrease for her. In 2022, Juan Espadas was left with 30 seats.

For these elections, there are 3,757 polling stations distributed among the 785 municipalities of this community, with 10,403 polling tables. Thus, according to electoral roll data, a total of 6,812,861 Andalusians are called to vote this Sunday, of which 6,510,856 reside in Andalusia and 302,005 are registered abroad. Additionally, there are 368,853 people who will be able to participate for the first time in an election for the Andalusian Parliament.
