Nine women accuse Jared Leto of inappropriate sexual behavior
Some were minors at the time of the incident
BarcelonaActor and singer Jared Leto is the subject of an article in the digital newsletter Air Mail in which nine women report having suffered inappropriate sexual behavior at the hands of him. One of the complainants, for example, was sixteen years old at the time of the events (in 2006) and details how the award-winning actor asked for her phone number and, from then on, began calling her insisting on meeting up and steering conversations toward sexual topics, such as asking her if she had ever performed fellatio.
Leto's representatives have sent a response to Air mail: "There was nothing sexual or inappropriate about their communications. And Ms. La Rue later applied to work as Mr. Leto's personal assistant, underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions." The outlet, founded by a former CEO of Vanity Fair and a reporter from the New York Times, denies that he ever asked her for a job. And she claims that, when she was 17 – and he was 37 – he once walked in front of her with his penis untucked. “I thought maybe that’s what grown men did,” she explains.
Another of the women explains that, when she was still a minor, she began receiving messages from the actor with questions like “Do any of those kids you date fuck you?” And she recalls that, when she was 18, Leto began masturbating, took her hand, put it on his penis and asked her to spit. The magazine also includes the testimony of Allie Teilz, a music producer and DJ from Los Angeles who, last month, on Instagram, recovered a post of hers from 2012 in which she said: “You are not in Los Angeles until Jared Leto tries to force yourself in the backstage dressed in a kilt and snow hat." She later added, "I was assaulted and traumatized by this geek when I was seventeen. He knew my age, but he didn't care. What he did was predatory, terrifying, and unacceptable."
Jared Leto began his Hollywood career as a supporting actor in films such as Fight Club, Girl, Interrupted either American Psycho before rising to fame for his starring role as a drug addict in Requiem for a DreamThe biggest break came in 2004, with the Oscar for best supporting actor for the film Dallas Buyers ClubAs a musician, he leads, along with his brother, the band Thirty Seconds to Mars, which is one of the headliners of the Cruïlla Festival.
