"It was a fun moment because it had nothing to do with politics. Honestly, I don't know about politics. "It was just to have a good time with my friends and family," he added.

The famous cap bore an adaptation of the well-known slogan Make America Great Again, emblem of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and was interpreted as a gesture of political support for the Trumpist movement. This reading has now been downplayed by the Barça player, who was precisely the protagonist of the World Cup celebration because he was responsible for the goal that made Spain world champions.

The controversy began at the parade that took place through the streets of Madrid to celebrate the title, where Torres appeared with the cap on his head, but intensified when the White House echoed it. On the social network X, the Trump administration shared a video of the player during the celebration with the phrase: "Everyone wants to join the movement."
