Archduchess Estelle of Austria dies at 46 of unknown causes
He was involved in various charitable causes focused on education and heritage preservation.
BarcelonaArchduchess Estelle of Austria has died of undisclosed causes at the age of 46. The death was announced in an obituary in the daily newspaper Le Figaro where it said: "Her husband, Archduke Carl Christian, her children, her parents and her parents-in-law announce with deep sadness that Archduchess Estelle of Austria, née Lapra de Saint Romain, has been called by God this Tuesday, March 4, 2025." The noblewoman was married to the great-grandson of the last Emperor of Austria, Charles I, with whom she had five children, all of them minors: Zita (17 years old), Anezka (15), Anna (13), Paola (19) and Pier Giorgo (5).
With a low profile, Estelle combined her work as a mother with an active involvement in various charitable causes and cultural activities. Within her charitable patronage, she focused mainly on the areas of education and preservation of historical heritage.
The news comes just days after another noble death untimely: that of Frederick of Luxembourg, victim of a rare genetic disorder known as POLG mitochondrial disease. He was 22 years old.
