Three phenomena that are difficult to understand

1. Why do we wake up every day to the story of Donald Trump? While Europe sleeps, the president of the United States signs executive decrees, holds press conferences and lets loose like donkeys fart. One after another, without caring about the trail or the scent. He is given to having justice, human rights or reality put a stop to his plans in any area. He will not build the Mediterranean Riviera in Gaza, nor will he achieve peace in Ukraine with just two meetings with Putin, nor will he wipe transgender people off the map and, it remains to be seen whether he can even bring back the plastic straws that are so good for slushies but so bad for the planet. But it never ceases to surprise that whatever Trump says is news. Often the first, the one on the front page, the one that opens news and television news. The mediocre following of journalism in Europe is also something to make us look at. So much attention to the idiot is excessive. We collaborate in enthroning stupidity, we devalue our environment and we help create monsters that, in the name of fear and hatred, play along with options that take us far from democratic values.
2. Why did Congress invite an Islamist terrorist to testify? Mohamed Houli, sentenced to 43 years in prison for his links to the jihadist cell of the attacks of August 17, 2017, appeared last week in the Congress of Deputies. Handcuffed and guarded by police armed to the teeth, he was invited to testify before the commission of inquiry into the right to know the truth and the implications derived from the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils. I don't know how to become one. Houli, the terrorist survivor of the explosion at the door of Alcanar, already had a whole trial to tell his story, lie, defend himself and narrate who was pulling the strings of the attack they were preparing. At that time he said nothing. Once judged and sentenced, his words are like firewood. There is no way around it that Congress wants to hear, eight years later, the version of someone we have seen making proclamations while trying on explosive belts to blow up the Camp Nou. From there, what Mohamed Houli said about the Ripoll imam and the CNI has no relevance, even if he had proof, which he has none. Of course, the right to know the truth remains intact in a country where the CNI runs riot and the State lacks fingers to cover up all the shit that spills from its sewers. Just two questions. Has there ever been a political commission of inquiry that has served any purpose, beyond whitewashing the institutions? And, on the other hand, would any commission of inquiry in Congress have invited an ETA terrorist sentenced to testify even if it meant two years and one day in prison?
3. What has Toni Comín done with his life? Nine years ago, he was the Minister of Health of the Generalitat. Until article 155 snatched him from office, his political career was on the rise. From a PSC deputy to a minister with ERC in the most pro-independence government in history. Today, Toni Comín has been in exile in Brussels for eight years and, when he appears in the media, it is because he is accused of having dipped his hand in the till, because Valtònyc explains that he has proof, because of a complaint of sexual harassment and psychological abuse, or because he lost the elections for the presidency of the Council of the Republic. In fact, he has not even come second. Comín denies all the facts and responds with complaints against the people who point the finger at him. But his reputation has already been damaged, and this is a kind of wound that is hard to heal. As a family, he has not been able to return to Catalonia to bury the people he loved most. Politically, he cannot serve as a member of the European Parliament because he did not take the oath of office and Puigdemont withdrew his confidence. After all, he is a piece of cake. At what point does fate —a cruel centrifuge— squeeze your life?
