They call from the CIS
Exactly one week ago today, I received a call from the CIS. It was surprising because, in case you don't answer calls from numbers you don't recognize, at the moment of the call, it was announced in capital letters on the screen: "CIS: Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas".
A very friendly pollster asked me if I had ten minutes, that I had been chosen at random, and since I had never been called before, intrigued by the experience after so many years of talking about their famous surveys, I told her yes. She explained that we would talk about consumer behavior and the general economic situation.
We went through some preliminary questions like whether I had bought an appliance in the last year, whether it was large or small (the appliance), who had decided it, how many of us lived at home, who earned the most money, whether the apartment was owned or rented, whether we had a landline, whether I foresaw that my economic situation and Spain's would be worse, the same, or better next year...
And then yes, towards the end, we left the appliances behind and went straight to the topic that was hovering over the call: for me to place myself on a scale of 1 to 10 between right and left, what I voted for in the last elections, and what I planned to vote for in the next general elections. In total, it was thirteen minutes of questions and answers. Neither Ceuta-related issues, nor rents, nor antipathies towards this one or trusts towards the others.
I read that the CIS conducts a survey every month (except in August), so we won't think badly, but if Pedro Sánchez needs fresh official data to make the mother of all decisions, he must be receiving it by the bucketload.
