The Vallense duel prevails in a tough San Félix duel due to the 10 castles
The Castellers de Vilafranca are on the verge of unloading the 9 of 9 with lining for the first time.

San Félix is a performance in which you know how you're starting, but you don't know how you're going to finish. Thus, the groups must adjust their plans based on the results. Before the event, the big headline was that the four—Castellers de Vilafranca, Colla Vella de los Xiquets de Valls, Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls, and Jove de Tarragona—were heading into August 30th with the expectation of performing 3 out of 10 with their lining and handcuffs. The performance didn't go as planned, and of all of them, only the pink and lilac groups were able to top it. The performance in the Plaça de la Villa in Vilafranca del Penedès, however, gave us an exhibition of unlined castles from the Vallenque groups and the 9 out of 9 with lining from the green groups, which was on the verge of being unloaded.
The clean castles of the Jóvenes
The Joves de Valls has a treasure that is the castells cleanIt's part of their DNA, and they show it off on big occasions. This Sant Fèlix, they also achieved a new milestone: unloading both the 4 of 9 and the 2 of 8 without a lining in a single performance for the first time. The start wasn't ideal, as they dismantled the four with both in place because the structure had become too small and had closed excessively at the upper levels. Thus, in the second round, they went for a 2 of 9 with a lining and handcuffs, struggling to face the big challenges again.
In their new attempt at the leafless four, the Reds made some piece changes, and the construction was much more compact. The loading was very good, and only in the unloading did it open up slightly in thirds, but without endangering the structure. They then tackled the other clean structure: the 2 of 8 without a lining. The Reds had already crowned him fifteen days earlier in a fall that had forced a substitution. However, in Vilafranca they were able to overcome the thorn by unloading it with a good execution, although it required effort on the descent; thus putting in the best performance of their
In Sant Fèlix, therefore, they didn't end up wearing the 3 out of 10 with lining and handcuffs, which will surely be released soon.
The Colla Vella closes the circle
The Colla Vella de los Xiquets de Valls was the only one able to maintain the script of the first three rounds. They started with their most established castle, 5 of 9 of 9. The supercathedral was solid with a placid offload. The main challenges, therefore, began in the second round. Thus, they attacked the 3 of 10 with a lining and handcuffs with conviction, but from the beginning they had complications, especially in fitting the handcuffs with the quarters. The children's speed allowed them to charge the castle, but the structure was already very much at its limit and gave way shortly after.
For the third round, they faced a castle that was technically challenging but, at the same time, highly emotional: the 4 of 9 without a lining. Just a year ago, the Rosé team stumbled on this castle and the fall resulted in a serious injury. On the other hand, a few months ago the group suffered the loss of one of its second-choice members, Pau de Magrinyà. This day, in tribute to both of them, the Vallencs have tamed the total castle and they've executed it perfectly from start to finish, probably one of the best completions ever seen.
Vilafranca, on the verge of making history
The Castellers de Vilafranca left Sant Fèlix with a mixed feeling, having failed to achieve many of their objectives. Of the three castells they had planned, they were only able to carry one: the 9 of 9 with a lining.
The Greens left their flagship castle, the 3 of 10 with a lining and handcuffs, but they dismantled it twice. On the first occasion, they managed to position the lifter and he performed the best, but the enxaneta was far from completing the fin, as he had been lowered a few seconds earlier. On the second occasion, they dismantled him prematurely with the sixths' ascent due to a poor fit with the handcuffs.
The Vilafranca team got their act back on track with a solid 5 out of 9 with a forro, before tackling the 9 out of 9 with a forro. The construction, never unloaded, was on the verge of completion for the first time in history. The castle rose in a helter-skelter fashion – as expected – but without losing its shape. The charge was good and held up, and it looked like it was the day to see it completed. However, with the exit of the twos, one of the towers couldn't hold any longer and gave way.
In the fifth round, the locals returned with the three handcuffed, but their strength was already quite limited, and they brought it down again.
La Jove makes the fin on the 3 out of 10 with a forro and handcuffs
The Jove de Tarragona had a clear idea of their path before tackling the ten floors. In the initial round, they scored a new 2 of 9 with a lining and handcuffs, which was very successful, although somewhat more nervous than those completed in recent weeks. Next came the 3 of 10 with a lining and handcuffs, which, on their first attempt, they dismantled prematurely, as it initially seemed very deformed and even ended up collapsing when they had everything down. However, they didn't give up and returned to it for a third round, in which the castle reminded them of the same sensations. They were brave enough to go up and carry it anyway.
The fall ended up taking its toll on them, and they discarded the 4 of 9 with a lining and needle, finishing the performance with the 4 of 9 with a lining.
Four pillars of 8 with lining and handcuffs
Sant Fèlix once again presented a beautiful image, as all the groups finished with the handcuffed pillar of eight, culminating in one of the most outstanding performances of the casteller calendar.
