BarcelonaThere are series that generate a lot of excitement when they premiere, and during the first season, the series is all that's talked about. Then the hype fades, and the series continues to thrive while some viewers are forgotten. The clearest example of this dynamic is The Handmaid's Tale, which when it premiered in 2017 caused rivers of ink to flow due to a plot that seemed to serve as a warning of the dark future that was approaching. Based on Margaret Atwood's novel, the series depicted a dystopian world in which, due to conservative ideas and low birth rates, fertile women had become sexual slaves to wealthy couples with fertility problems. It was a story so shocking and so closely related to reality that some feminist activists adopted the attire worn by the maids in their protests.

The first season ended where the Canadian novel ended, but Bruce Miller, creator of the series, and Elisabeth Moss, star and producer, decided to continue adding plots and seasons. Eight years after the beginning, The Handmaid's Tale The sixth and final season has just premiered on Max, even though some fans of the show have long since left the train.
