The List: The Catalan influencers who are making the most waves
A ranking of content creators is created to boost the Catalan digital industry.

BarcelonaJuliana Canet, La Sotana, Ada Parellada, and Celia España, but also Joan Soler Sucarrats, SOS Català, Ania Posada, and Polículas. The digital landscape in Catalan is expanding. This is confirmed by the new tool that was just made public this Thursday, the List (llista.cat). These are the rankings of the influencers The most influential Catalan publications in areas such as gastronomy, lifestyle, literature, humor, sports, music, and up to twenty categories. The goal is to "give visibility to a growing cultural sector" and for it to "gain seriousness and coherence as an industry," explains Albert Lloreta, producer of La Fera, who has been creating this tool with Fundació.cat for the past two years.
The List currently includes 803 Catalan-language content creators. Between them, they made 19,200 videos during the first quarter of the year and achieved 207 million views on social media, a figure well above the 164 million views for the same period in 2024. The List is a living project that will be reviewed and expanded monthly. The requirement for inclusion is that the influencers' "center of gravity" is on the platforms and that they don't just use them to promote their work. A good indicator is that these projects or creators are "hirable" to create content for institutions, entities, or brands, which will now have a more understandable and accessible tool with the names and key data of this environment.
"For the first time, we have a complete and living map of the ecosystem of content creators in any language in the world, and it's done in Catalan," Lloreta emphasizes. For the producer, within the debate on the new, more diverse European internet, Catalan culture "is well positioned to be a leader, which represents a change of attitude regarding the linguistic battle, which has always been licking its wounds," he points out. "We have created an ultra-pioneering network for creating content in our language and we can use it as a reference for other languages that are better at doing their own thing."
A lot of creation but little stability
The List aims to broaden the market beyond the most well-known influencers, to share opportunities and foster the undergrowth. That's why they've categorized the names by topic and monthly or quarterly results. They've also ranked them qualitatively based on an algorithm that prioritizes impact (views, output, and reaction). likes and comments) and not just the number of followers. This allows us to discover names such as architect Pol Casellas, illustrator Ayla Madison, language didactics teacher Aina Monferrer, music promoter Catlletres, the Badalona-based commerce channel Badalocura, and the Catalan popularizer Mitjacatalana, etc.
"We are in a good moment of diversity. We are coming out of a time when there was a small pool of creators and now many high-quality voices are emerging," says Lloreta. It is not surprising that the majority of creators are from Generation Z, but the trend should be for this range to widen as networks gain centrality in leisure and culture across generations. "We must bring all those who share that in the 90s TV3 capitalized because it is what will make the Catalan numbers go better", predicts the producer.
Catalan has stopped being a handicap to be an incentive, because there is space for new creators, there are channels that bet and there are even public aid. Compared to just two years agoDigital creation in Catalan has gained momentum and is finally attracting the interest of public administrations, festivals, 3Cat, entities such as Barça, car and beer brands, and other companies that hire influencers to reach their audiences. However, there is still a very small percentage of creators who can make a living, and in no case can they do so solely on views. Furthermore, it is a highly uncertain sector with little protection by professional agreements and statutes. "We have one of the largest army of creators in Europe outside of English and Spanish. We have created a good foundation. Now it is time to pursue more ambitious projects," says Lloreta.
Most people today have a diverse digital presence across multiple platforms, from their own LinkedIn website to a company page, Instagram, Spotify, a link to Wikipedia, a portfolio, or a Twitch channel among friends. All this scattered content is usually grouped into a link-in-bio page called Linktree, which is only available in English and has paid versions. Fundació.cat has created an alternative platform in Catalan, secure and completely free, to link their entire digital presence in one click. Called jo.cat , it's a way to promote Catalan, strengthen digital identity, and escape from large global internet corporations. This Thursday, the relaunch of this already active tool was also announced.
