More than 12,300 applicants for 1,808 positions: exams begin for the new competitive examinations in the Generalitat
The first tests this Saturday are for the junior staff and the administrative assistants

BarcelonaMore than 12,300 candidates are called to twenty opposition processes in which 1,808 civil service positions are offered in the Generalitat. The tests begin this weekend and will continue on March 22 and April 5. This Saturday morning 2,039 people will sit the exams to access one of the 222 positions in the subordinate body; while in the afternoon 4,301 candidates will take the exam to obtain one of the 749 positions in the auxiliary administration body.
According to a press release from the Department of the Presidency, responsible for the Civil Service, this is the second ordinary call for oppositions after the extraordinary stabilization processes that the Generalitat launched. to put an end to the abuse of temporality. The first competitive examinations in ten years for some administrative positions and bodies took place in October. The tests this Saturday are being held in the four Catalan districts: in the case of Barcelona, the exams will be held at the North Campus of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and in the Administrative District; and the other venues will be the University of Lleida, the University of Girona and the Rovira i Virgili, in Tarragona.
What will these tests be like? The morning tests consist of two parts: a first multiple choice knowledge exercise; and a second exercise consisting of a practical case, also multiple choice. The afternoon tests are scheduled to start at half past four and the structure of the exams is the same. The Civil Service assures that these exams introduce "progressively" an approximation of the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) model and that "they will be more agile, multiple choice and with syllabuses more tailored to the profiles". They have also recalled that more than 500 workers from the Generalitat "will ensure their smooth running", after the bad memory of the chaos with the 2023 stabilisation exams subcontracted to the company Cegos.
These new calls for applications include up to 15% of additional places planned to cover future vacations, meaning that people who have passed but have no place will have preference in obtaining one.
New calls
