We review some of the first mobile phones that integrated functions that now seem ordinary but were revolutionary. Originally, their technology was very limited, and they had very different dimensions than most current commercial models.

The first conversation

Martin Cooper made the first call using this mobile phone on April 3, 1973. The Motorola engineer and systems manager made the historic call on a New York street using a prototype.
