BarcelonaA 14-year-old Palestinian-American boy was shot dead by Israeli settlers on Sunday near the village of Turmus Ayya, northeast of Ramallah in the West Bank, according to the mayor of the town, Lafi Shalabi. The boy was on the street with two friends, ages 13 and 14, when the settlers opened fire on them. All three were shot.

The deceased is named Omar Mohamed Rabea, and his family had lived in the United States until they returned to the West Bank more than ten years ago. The boy was arrested by the Israeli army after being shot and died shortly afterward from his serious injuries, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The other two children were shot in the abdomen and thigh and were taken to a hospital near Turmus Ayya by the Palestinian Red Crescent. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, Israeli forces have held up ambulances at the exit of this town, which has "deliberately" delayed their arrival at the scene of the injured children.

For his part, the mayor of Turmus Ayya has denounced that no one has been arrested following the serious incident. Israeli army sources have simply stated in statements to the Efe news agency that they must review the events.

Violence in the West Bank has increased since the beginning of Israel's offensive against the Gaza Strip. There are more raids by the Israeli army and more attacks by settlers against Palestinian communities.
