HBO Max premieres 'Pubertat', Leticia Dolera's series set in the human tower world
The series revolves around a complaint of sexual assault between teenagers in the context of a human tower group
The human towers will be on everyone's screens starting Wednesday, September 24th. HBO Max premieres Puberty, Leticia Dolera's series set in the world of human towers, tells the story of an alleged sexual assault between teenagers within a human tower group. The series revolves around the Menuts de Santa Vènia, a fictional human tower group recreated by the Minyons de Terrassa. A large part of the series was filmed in the co-capital of Vallès Occidental.
Puberty It questions whether a child can be a sexual aggressor or whether it is simply a result of age-related confusion. It also reveals the gray areas and complexity of this issue and questions who would be responsible for this event: the adolescent themselves, the family, or society. This dichotomy will divide families to find out the truth, in a drama that also brings the weight of the taboo to the table.
Leticia Dolera believes that making a fiction about a human tower group allowed her to contrast "a more traditional, rooted, and conservative perspective versus a more progressive and change-oriented perspective," as she explained. in an interview in the ARA. She also commented that "making human towers is an act of resistance in these times of capitalism and individualism."
Thus, the human towers are the vehicle that has allowed the director to address any debate in an environment where different families, political opinions, and ways of seeing life all come together with the same purpose.
Casteller cast
The director has chosen to surround herself with actors with experience in human towers, and two of the main roles in the series are for Biel Duran, a member of the Terrassa Minyons, and Aina Martínez, from the Niños del Vendrell. Duran plays the role of the group leader, and the children's leader is Roser Vilajosana, a human tower builder from the Castellers de la Vila de Gràcia. The actress commented in an interview in the ARA that Dolera "was very open to allowing small details to be added for the sake of the story and to make it seem authentic from the perspective of a human tower group."
The series also hired a human tower advisor to fine-tune the human towers to the narrative. This work was carried out by Kevin Prados, group leader of the Children of El Vendrell. "When I interviewed him, I was amazed because he gave me a philosophical view of human towers," the director commented to the ARA.
Puberty There are six chapters of approximately one hour that will premiere this fall on the HBO Max platform and will soon be shown on 3Cat.
