BarcelonaThe Catalan Book Week closed this Sunday its 44th edition with more than 130,000 visitors, 8,000 more than last year, and a turnover that will reach one million euros, 12% more than a year ago, pending the final figures. The organization assures that, taking into account the absolute sales data, the 2026 edition has been the best in the history of the Week. "We have experienced the best edition of The Week in its entire history, a fact that demonstrates the good work done in previous years and reaffirms the vitality of the book in Catalan, and we are already starting to think about the 45th edition so that it can once again be a great celebration of books and culture," asserted the presidentof Editors.cat, Oriol Magrinyà.

The attendance figures are in line with the organization's initial forecasts, which had already announced that they expected more than 100,000 visitors this year. The Week took place at Passeig Lluís Companys from September 18 to 27 and featured the participation of 282 publishing labels from Catalonia, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, Northern Catalonia, and Andorra. More than 350 activities were organized.

For the organizers, this year's success reinforces the commitment to Passeig Lluís Companys, which for the third consecutive year has been the location for this great cultural and literary event, coinciding with the Mercè festivities.

Among the highlights of this edition was the inaugural speech by Biel Mesquida, the latest Honorary Award for Catalan Letters; a space dedicated to new voices in Catalan poetry, such as Ria Dueñas and Júlia Febrer, and a day focused on crime novels. In addition, the Trajectòria award was presented to Ramon Solsona.
