Chinese cars

After selling 10,000 vehicles in one year, Omoda and Jaecoo are introducing four new models.

The first of the new models from the Chinese brands will be the Omoda 9 SHS, a plug-in hybrid SUV with almost 600 hp and more than 1,000 km of autonomy

Omoda 9, the next vehicle that the Chinese brand will sell in our country

The offensive of Chinese brands in our market is unstoppable. About a year ago, on February 22, 2024, the Omoda brand, a Chinese manufacturer that launched its Omoda 5, was officially launched. It was a really important car for Catalonia because it began to be manufactured at the Nissan plant in Barcelona., along with others such as the vehicles of the reborn Ebro brand or the Jaecoo 7, which hit the market a little later (on September 17).

Since then, Omoda and Jaecoo's growth has been unstoppable, with extraordinary sales results and an increasingly broad product range. To achieve this, they have opted for a formula that usually yields good results: on the one hand, the product is manufactured here (or at least part of it, since currently, vehicles arriving partially assembled from China are being assembled in the Free Trade Zone). On the other hand, the vehicles' prices are competitive, and they not only rely on exclusively electric engines but also offer various combustion alternatives. Finally, they have a sales network of more than 70 centers throughout the country.

The Omoda 5 is a sales success

More than 10,000 units sold with only two models in the range

Omoda debuted with the 5 model and Jaecoo did the same with the 7. While it is true that both exist in two different versions (the Omoda 5 can be chosen with a combustion engine or 100% electric and the Jaecoo 7 can be gasoline or plug-in hybrid 2) gin exceeded 10,000 units sold.

But what should make the rest of the brands suffer the most (especially the European ones, which often seem to be watching the film as spectators and not as protagonists) is that the offensive of the Chinese brands is to offer many more models in a few years. We have already seen what BYD has done in a short time, Initially presenting models such as the Tang, HAN or Atto 3 and rapidly expanding its range with products such as the Seal U DM-i plug-in hybrid either the little Atto 2.

The Jaecoo 7 is just the first in a long list of models that the Chinese brand will soon present.

Well, the idea of Omoda and Jaecoo (and also Ebro) is to present four new models over the next few years. Jaecoo will offer the compact SUV 5 and the luxury SUV 8, while Omoda will launch the 7 and has already presented the 9. And this last model, which could be seen for the first time in our country in a joint presentation organized a few days ago by the two brands, has a truly attractive presentation card.

Omoda 9 SHS: plug-in hybrid with almost 600 hp and more than 1,000 km of autonomy

Under the name Omoda 9 SHS (Super Hybrid System), the Chinese brand has unveiled a new SUV, this time belonging to the D segment, measuring 4.77 meters in length. This car stands out not only for its modern design and premium character (but at a price that will be much lower than what comes to mind when we think of premium cars), but also for its revolutionary mechanics.

The new Omoda 9 SHS will feature an evolved and modern aesthetic
The technological equipment promises to be the most advanced on the market.

The Omoda 9 SHS is a plug-in hybrid that combines a combustion engine and three electric motors to generate a combined power of 596 hp and a maximum torque of 915 Nm. With a 34.46 kWh battery manufactured by CATL, it offers an electric range of 145 kilometers, achieving a combined figure (including the combustion engine part) of 1,100 kilometers. And with such a powerful mechanical deployment, it's no surprise that this car's performance is impressive: it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and, in addition, has been approved for consumption of just 1.7 liters and obtains the 0 label.

going from 30 to 80% in 25 minutes, a sufficiently competitive figure for a plug-in hybrid, and not a 100% electric car. The price? It hasn't been confirmed by the brand yet, but speculation is that the price could be around €45,000. Whatever the case, it's clear that China's automotive offensive is unstoppable.

The Omoda 9 SHS is expected to be priced around €45,000.
