BarcelonaNadal is coming, and that means La Marató's album is finally here!From TV3. The Ludwig Band, El Pot Petit, Els Catarres, and Manolo García are some of the artists featured on this charity album, which will be available this Sunday with major newspapers, including ARA, for €12. Everyone who buys this edition will receive a link to download the album to other devices. The digital version will be available through Apple Music, and a special USB version is also available, sold exclusively at the 3Cat store. This year's Marathon will take place on December 14th and will be hosted by... Ramon Pellicer, presenter ofNewscast weekend from TV3 until September of that year.
This album aims to be the soundtrack for this long-running charity initiative. This year it includes songs like You are with me, sung by Monica Green, Kelly Isaiah and Vocal Groove, who cover theStand by me by Ben E. King; The sun on my face, performed by La Ludwig Band and Mercè Martínez, the version of Walking on sunshine by Katrina & The Waves, or I live to fightA version of Albinoni's Adagio, performed by the Catalan soprano Begoña Alberdi. The album also features artists such as Pablo Alborán, who sings his song My 36 in Catalan; Manolo García with Your coldness, and Antonio Orozco who, together with La Cobla de Cobles de Catalunya, performs his song I swear there isn't a second that I don't think about you.
Los Catarras, Dyano, El Pot Petit, Ana Torroja, Alérgicas al pollen, Blaumut, Alfred García, the Gran Teatre del Liceu Choir, Gisela, TimØ, Samuraï, Mala Rodríguez, David Ros, Gigi Ros, and Tol Sarmiento are the others.
While La Marató celebrates its 34th edition, this album turns 21. Recording began in 2004, the year La Marató was dedicated to cancer awareness and Pellicer was also the host. All records were broken, and 8.7 million euros were raised. Unfortunately, this disease remains one of the leading causes of death in Catalonia. Last year, 17,000 people died and 42,851 cases were diagnosed, according to data from the Catalan Health Department. For these reasons, under the slogan "Let's Detect It, Let's Fix It," the funds raised in 2025 will be directed towards prevention, early detection, treatment, diagnosis of this disease, and cancer research in Catalonia.
