Finding the series that best suits you: Netflix wants to make it possible
The American company is testing a personalized recommender that works through artificial intelligence.

BarcelonaTired of wasting time searching for the perfect series? Netflix wants to remedy the endless amount of content on the streaming platform, which causes many users to give up before finding a product that suits them. That's why the company is testing a new search technology that allows users to find the ideal shows and movies using artificial intelligence. This feature is already available to some users in Australia and New Zealand, and is expected to expand further in the coming months.
As reported by Bloomberg, the test search engine would be powered by Open AI. This search engine would use very specific parameters to fully adapt: for example, it would ask the user about their mood, according to the company. Once the questions posed by the AI are answered, users will be recommended series that match their expectations. For now, in countries where it is already operational, it is only available through iOS devices.
This new smart search option would improve the current recommendation service, which presents results based on the customer's viewing history. Netflix has been using artificial intelligence on its platform for some time. An example of this use is the current appearance of its content library, which adapts images and headlines based on users' viewing habits.
The audiovisual company, in light of this new experiment, has assured, however, that it is "sensitive" to criticism regarding the use of artificial intelligence in technology. It also wanted to send a message of calm to Hollywood and assured that it does not intend to use this tool to reduce jobs or cut costs.
