A Sagrada Família of balloons, ball pits, and immersive activities
Barcelona is the first stop of the European tour of the international exhibition Balloon Story
BarcelonaThe immersive exhibition created with more than 600,000 recyclable balloons will transform, starting this Thursday, the Inmersa space, located in the Poblenou neighborhood, into a large-scale visual and sensory universe. The experience promises to surprise visitors with a journey full of color, light, movement, and scenographies that turn ephemeral art into a different cultural proposal.
The exhibition, which has already captivated more than 800,000 people in cities like New York, Melbourne, or Sydney, is now arriving in Spain for the first time with a project that combines art, entertainment, and technology. The project is designed for all audiences and seeks to offer a participatory experience capable of fascinating both children and adults. The proposal invites visitors to immerse themselves in scenarios where balloons become authentic works of art.
The installations have been created by more than 150 artists specialized in balloon art from different countries around the world, with the notable collaboration of local artists. The result will occupy two large industrial warehouses with a route divided into ten thematic spaces that will begin by recreating works by Gaudí, commemorating the 100 years since the architect's death. Attendees will be able to symbolically travel through places as diverse as the seabed, the lush jungle, or outer space, through large-format setups designed to stimulate the senses and imagination.
Moving figures and interactive experiences
Among the main attractions of the exhibition will be giant sculptures that can reach up to eight or nine meters high, as well as animated figures created with animatronic technology. In addition, the exhibition will include interactive spaces and immersive environments such as an inflatable castle, ball pits, and light installations that will allow the public to interact with the environment. The objective is to create an emotional and playful experience that, as explained by Paula Vitores, marketing and communication director of Proactiv Entertainment – the local promoter of the event –, allows visitors to awaken their imagination and "recover their inner child".
The sensory dimension of the proposal is also reinforced with sound effects, dynamic lighting, and moving elements that transform each space into a different experience. Each room is conceived as its own universe, with a specific visual narrative and details designed for the public to explore, play, and take photos within the settings.
Sustainable commitment and commitment to Barcelona
Another of the project's standout aspects is its environmental commitment. The sculptures and installations are primarily made from recyclable materials, with the aim of offering a more sustainable alternative within the sector of large ephemeral productions. This commitment to reducing environmental impact aims to demonstrate that it is possible to combine spectacle, creativity, and ecological awareness.
The choice of Barcelona as the European gateway for the exhibition is also not coincidental. The promoters consider the city to be particularly receptive to immersive experiences and innovative cultural formats. El Poblenou, with its creative character and its transformation into a cultural and technological district, presents itself as the ideal setting to host an artistic proposal of this nature. With this arrival, Barcelona further consolidates its role as a European benchmark in the field of immersive and large-format cultural experiences.
